Re-Election Priorities
Gina Papan is a Millbrae Council Member, Former Mayor, Metropolitan Transportation Commissioner, Deputy Attorney General, and Nonprofit Director.
Gina’s Priorities for our Future
Disaster & Crisis Preparedness, Emergency Health, and 911 Services. In these challenging and uncertain times, I’ll continue to keep our 911 response times fast and our Fire Stations open and operational to address Millbrae’s emergency, medical and 911 needs. Police/Sheriff staffing and neighborhood patrols must be maintained so local families can receive the help they need, anytime they need it.
Millbrae Values, Character, Housing & Homeless Needs. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, and I cherish Millbrae’s cultural diversity, strength of character, and local charm—and I want future generations to be able to live here.
I’ll continue to support responsible development that doesn’t increase traffic or burden local services, infrastructure, or schools, prioritize childcare and senior programs, and fix our aging streets and potholes. We need affordable housing our working families can afford, and compassionate services for homeless people and families in need, while ensuring our business districts, parks and public places are safe and secure for everyone.
City-School Partnerships. I’m proud of my work to expand City-School partnerships and improve playing fields at our local school sites. After-school and recreation programs, whether in person or virtual, help keep our students focused and healthy. I will fight to maintain quality education, school site safety, online teaching capacity and resources as priorities for us all.
Water Conservation, Environmental Stewardship, and Clean Air. Water conservation, sea level rise, and clean air continue to be my top concerns. I proudly championed Millbrae’s adoption of the U.S. Mayors’ Climate Protection Agreement, participation in Peninsula Clean Energy, and joining the Flood and Sea Level Rise Resiliency Agency. I have promoted Green building ordinances and business programs, residential energy efficiencies, and water conservation programs. I championed implementing a waste reduction strategy and establishing a co-generation plant that turns restaurant grease into clean energy. I’ll continue to identify creative, innovative ways to decrease our carbon footprint, reduce traffic gridlock that affects our quality of life and clean air, and work to keep our Bay clean.
